WHY THE H*** aren't you supporting your local merchants? All you need to do is walk into the garden center, pick what you want and plunk down your money. You are paying shipping, and exhorbitant prices for things you can find around the corner. References :
I agree with the person who suggested Daves Garden to find a nursery: http://davesgarden.com/gwd/
This site really has so much to offer. My local nurseries only carry common plants and I like the variety that is offered on-line. If I want annuals or something common though, I'll happily shop locally. Dave's also has reviews on your local nurseries. And plant files to learn about different plants and the experiences of people who grow them.
The companies that I have had the best luck with are: http://www.songsparrow.com/
A little expensive but the plants were in great shape. Great selection of peonies. http://www.greergardens.com/
Great selection of hard to find plants. Good choice especially if you are on the west coast. Shipping can seem a bit high but the plant prices are low and offset it. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone on the east coast because they ship ground and it can take a week to get your plants, which is a lot of stress for the plants. They offer air shipping but that's very expensive. Still, their plants are large, healthy, and they have a very good selection. http://www.schreinersgardens.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=SIGO
For Iris, this company is the best. Great selection, healthy plants. http://www.brentandbeckysbulbs.com/
This company has the best bulbs available. You won't believe the selection they offer. If it exists, they probably have it. They really are amazing and the bulbs and service are excellent. http://www.lazyssfarm.com/index.html
I ordered a dozen bushes from this company this year and was happy with my order. The plants were healthy and well-packed. They're doing great although I lost one. Their prices are good too. References :

Bloomscape.com ships full size plants using a unique fiber and packaging system. They are the only site that I know of that does.
